OnlyFans verification: ID, age checks and what to do when it fails

There are three related processes, and mixing them up creates bad advice. Creator onboarding is an age-and-identity check. Fan onboarding can include age estimation or age-and-identity verification depending on location and circumstances. People who appear in content have their own identity and consent requirements.

OnlyFans's public Terms also say a creator must upload a valid form of ID and two photos, add payment details and provide additional information when requested. Its current Privacy Policy describes the live third-party capture more precisely: an image of the government identity document and a short GIF made from a selfie are used to match the person to the document.

The verification provider is trying to compare a real person, a real document and the account data in one session. Give it clean inputs. Clever inputs look like fraud inputs.

1. 1Enter your own current detailsUse your legal information as requested and check every field before continuing. If your name, date of birth, residence or payout information has a legitimate complication, explain it through official support rather than inventing a cleaner version.
2. 2Use the document offered by the official flowChoose a supported, valid government document from the list presented for your location. Capture the original document, with all requested sides and edges visible. Do not upload an edited image, screenshot, photocopy or image of a screen unless the prompt expressly permits it.
3. 3Make the document readableUse even light, a clean camera lens and a plain background. Avoid glare, fingers over fields, heavy shadows, blur and cropping. Read the captured image yourself before accepting it; if you cannot read a field, the provider may not be able to either.
4. 4Complete the selfie capture aloneUse your own face, remove anything that blocks it and follow the movement or framing instructions exactly. Do not use filters, beauty effects, prerecorded footage, another screen or another person. Those are not fixes for a failed match.
5. 5Use a truthful, stable sessionAllow the requested camera permissions and keep the connection stable. Do not use a VPN or proxy to claim a different country. If a legitimate privacy tool blocks the camera or verification provider, correct that technical block without changing the residence information you submit.
6. 6Keep the response, not a public copy of the IDRecord the date, time and exact success or failure message. Do not post the document or selfie in a forum, group chat or social-media thread to ask strangers why it failed.

OnlyFans does not publish a complete public rejection codebook. Its Privacy Policy does say the verification provider returns a pass or fail result and a reason for failure. Start with that exact reason. The checks below are diagnostics, not a promise that one retry will produce approval.

1. 1Save the exact failure messageTake a screenshot of the error, not of the full ID, and note the account email, username, country, document type and time. Exact evidence gives support something to investigate; 'verification is broken' does not.
2. 2Fix the stated problem onceIf the message identifies glare, crop, permission or another clear capture issue, correct that issue and retry through the same official flow. Do not submit a stack of random documents or repeatedly change account details.
3. 3Open one official support requestUse the support ticket available through your OnlyFans account or the official Contact Form at onlyfans.com/contact. Include the exact error and the diagnostic details above. Do not attach identity documents to an unsolicited email or send them to somebody contacting you on Telegram, WhatsApp or social media.
4. 4Follow the route named in the decisionIf OnlyFans sends a formal account or content decision, use the complaint or appeal route linked in that notice when applicable. A failed capture is not automatically a formal appeal, so do not skip support and assume the general appeals form is the right queue.
5. 5Keep one case historyReply on the existing ticket with new evidence instead of opening several tickets for the same problem. Keep dates, reference numbers and the text of each response until the account is resolved.

OnlyFans is an 18-plus service. Its June 2026 Privacy Policy says fan checks can vary by location or circumstances. The platform may use email-address age estimation, facial age estimation, or a government-ID and selfie identity check through third-party providers.

Facial age estimation is described as estimating age from a short selfie capture rather than recognising identity. If age estimation fails — including where an adult is estimated below the threshold — the person may be offered the fuller age-and-identity process. That is the safe escalation path. There is no legitimate trick for forcing an age estimate to pass, and anyone under 18 must not use the service.

The same policy says the third-party provider may use face recognition to match the government document and selfie during age-and-identity verification. OnlyFans says it does not itself receive or access the provider's Face Recognition Data, although its policy separately lists ID images, selfie captures, outcomes and process metadata among the personal data processed. Read the current privacy notice before submitting if that distinction matters to you.

Verification is not necessarily a one-time event. OnlyFans's Terms allow it to request additional age or identity information, and its Privacy Policy describes periodic identity authentication. A creator should therefore keep their account details current and retain safe access to the original recovery and verification channels.

• Every person shown in co-authored content must satisfy the platform's identity, age and consent requirements; the account owner's approval does not cover the cast.
• The verified creator remains legally responsible under OnlyFans's Terms even when somebody else helps operate the account.
• An agency should document who owns the account, who handles official verification requests and who may access operational data.
• Identity documents should not circulate through chatter channels, shared drives or informal onboarding forms just because several people work on the account.
